Plague Cottages, Eyam
The beautiful countryside surrounding Eyam, houses some of the county's most loved stately homes, including Hardwick Hall, Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House. Historically, the village is reknowned for the courageous endeavours of its inhabitants during the "Great Plague" (c. 1660). It contains many fascinating monuments including "Eyam Hall", the "Plague Cottages" and the "Sheep Roast".
Despite the picturesque appearance, Eyam also enjoys many more "up to date" facilities, including local shops, a pub and a modern health centre. It is also within the catchment area of the highly regarded Lady Manners School in the nearby market town of Bakewell.
